The Complete Aerial Photography Drone
The Q500 is an outstanding choice for aerial photography and videography (APV). This drone comes completely assembled with everything you need included in the box.
There are three flight modes available with the Q500. Firstly, there is Smart Mode, which is a great choice for beginners or first-time pilots. In this mode, the drone will always move in the direction the right-hand control stick is pushed relative to you, the pilot. This will occur irrespective of the direction the front of the drone (its nose) is pointing. This mode also limits the distance the Q500 can fly to 91m (300ft) from the starting point. The second mode is Angle (Pilot) Mode. This is a great choice if you are an intermediate-level pilot who has some experience flying drones (or other RC aircraft). In this mode, the Q500 will move in the direction the right-hand control stick is pushed relative to the nose of the aircraft. The angle of movement can be determined by how far you move the stick away from the centre position. The final mode is Home Mode. In this instance, the drone will automatically fly itself back to the home point and will land within a 3m (10ft) diameter circle around it.

Apart from these very handy flight modes, the Q500 also comes with a GPS antenna and compass sensor.

"Extraordinary 20 to 25 minute
flight time on a single charge."

It only makes sense that such a feature-rich drone comes with a camera and radio system to match. Hence the reason why Yuneec have included the CGO2-GB camera and the ST10 transmitter. It's these components that make high quality aerial photography and filming possible. Let's explore each in turn.

Excellent Drone Camera

At the centre of this system is a CGO2-GB camera with a three-axis gimbal. This self-stabilising gimbal is driven by a brushless motor. Its pitch range is -90 to +45°, with a roll range of +/- 45°. This pitch and tilt position can easily be adjusted using a slider on the included ST10 transmitter.

The CGO2-GB camera records full HD 1080p video in 60, 50 or 48fps. It can also capture 12 megapixel photos. The Q500 comes with an 8GB SD card, but you can always use your own Class 10 microSD card. Yuneec have added a built-in video downlink that streams digital video to the transmitter (2.4 Ghz) and personal ground station (5.8 Ghz).

Advanced Android Transmitter With FPV

This 10-channel transmitter is remarkable technology in its own right. It’s built-in colour screen not only supports the 5.8GHz video downlink, it can also facilitate first-person view (FPV) without the need for separate components. This Android-powered transmitter shows a wealth of telemetry data on screen and allows the operator to have total control of the CGO2-GB camera. The ST10 can be operated in Modes 1-4 merely by making the change on screen in the operating system. Overall, the Q500 really is the all-in-one package. If you have always wanted to capture amazing images and video from the sky, this is your chance.

A completion level of ready-to-fly (RTF) means this version of the Q500 Typhoon Quadcopter with CGO2-GB Camera from Yuneec comes factory-assembled and that a pre-bound transmitter (radio controller) is included. More than just an RC multi-rotor, the Q500 is designed for APV - aerial photography and video. To this end, it incorporates the CGO2-GB/3-axis gimbal system, enabling you to capture stabilized 1080p video at up to 60 fps, and photos at 12-megapixels.

The Q500 is bundled with the ST10 Personal Ground Station, at 10-channel, 2.4 GHz transmitter and 5.8 GHz video receiver rolled into one hand-held unit. In addition to traditional RC joystick to pilot the quadcopter, there is a built-in Android mobile device with a 4.5" touchscreen allowing you to view an FPV (first-person view) video image from the camera along with telemetry data superimposed.

As part of the RTF bundle, a 5400mAh flight battery is included. Up to 25 minutes flying is provided by each battery per charge - depending on wind-resistance and other factors.

CGO2-GB 3-Axis Stabilized Camera

The included CGO2-GB combines a 12-megapixel, 1080p60 camera and a 3-axis brushless gimbal into a single unit designed to capture stabilized aerial video and still images. For live view and remote operation, the camera features an integrated 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi downlink that enables operation and viewing from the 4.5" touchscreen on the ST10 Personal Ground Station. You can also pair with a mobile device using the free CGO2 app - available at Google Play and iTunes app stores. A smartphone holder that mounts on the transmitter is included

The camera features a wide angle 130-degree FOV lens. While the gimbal that supports it features a control angle accuracy of ±0.02°. High quality video and stills are recorded to a microSD card up to 128GB in size. Low quality, upload-friendly versions can be saved onto a mobile device running the CGO2 app

ST10 Personal Ground Station

Transmitter (hand-held radio controller) and ground station system are combined into one device with the 10-channel ST10. It features a 2.4 GHz transmitter for joystick operation of the quadcopter. In addition, there is a 5.8 GHz-range receiver for the video feed from the camera plus telemetry data. A built-in 4.5" touchscreen plus embedded Android OS enable you to control the CGO2-GB camera as well as view a live feed from it, complete with telemetry data overlaid (OSD)

Flight Control Features

No-Fly Database

The Q500 flight computer has access to a database of published FAA no-fly areas - such as zones near airports. Additionally, the maximum flight altitude can be locked to remain below 400' AGL (above ground level) for further compliance

Flight Modes

Smart Mode

Designed for beginners, this mode uses GPS to establish a 26' "SAFE Circle" around the pilot. Stick relativity is maintained, meaning the aircraft will move in the same direction the stick is pressed is relative to the pilot, regardless of which way the quadcopter's actual "nose" is pointing. A "virtual barrier" imposes maximum radius of 300', help to ensure visual with the quadcopter is always maintained

Angle Mode

This mode is optimized for experienced pilots using the Q500 for aerial photography. It provides more control and steeper bank and pitch angles, helping open your work up to a greater variety of possible shots

Home Mode

This safety feature can be activated at any time with the simple flip of a switch on the ST10. When activated, the Q500 Typhoon will automatically return to its "home point" and land within a 10' circle of where it took off. If for whatever reason the transmitter signal is lost, Return Home will take over and fly the Q500 back to the home point until it lands or the signal is restored

Note: Proper GPS calibration is required to ensure this feature works correctly
